Mudhalvan Chess Academy is Tamil Nadu's premier chess learning family. Founded in 2014, we train students from basic board setup to FIDE rating prep, producing district and state champions.
2. What is the minimum age to enroll?
The minimum age to join our program is 5 years. Our special "Little Masters" course is designed for children aged 5 to 7.
3. Where is your offline academy located?
Our main center is located at 38/2 Chidambaram Colony, 2nd 80 Feet Road, Periyar Nagar, Erode - 638001, Tamil Nadu.
4. What are the offline class features?
Offline classes offer 100% physical board practice, small batches (6-8 students), interactive Demo Boards, flexible morning/evening timings, and regular progress evaluations.
5. Do you offer online chess courses?
Yes, we offer live, interactive, 2-way online coaching sessions on Lichess and our dedicated platform, maintaining a strict 6-8 student limit per batch.
6. What is the coach-to-student ratio?
We maintain a maximum 1:15 coach-student ratio for standard batches, and limit batches to 6-8 students for specialized offline classes to guarantee personal attention.
7. Who are the academy's coaches?
Our leadership team consists of founder Y. Arangamudhalvan and Head Chess Coach P. Gunaseelan (State Arbiter & Certified Trainer), possessing 20+ years of chess experience.
8. What are the program fee details?
Fees are: 🌱 Little Masters: ₹1,500/month | ⚔️ Foundation: ₹15,000 for 6 Months | 👑 Champion: ₹25,500 for 9 Months | 🏆 Grandmaster Prep: ₹30,500 for 12 Months.
9. Is there any admission fee for demo students?
No. We charge zero admission fees for students who register immediately following their Free Demo Class.
10. Do you provide special attention for weak students?
Yes, we offer special revision classes, 1-on-1 feedback, and tailored chess puzzles for students requiring extra care.
11. How do you track progress?
We measure performance weekly via puzzle solving tests, keep records of internal games, and conduct monthly Parent-Teacher meetings to review development graphs.
12. Do you prepare students for FIDE ratings?
Yes, our "Grandmaster Prep" course covers official positional chess, opening databases, complex endgames, psychological strategies, and rating preparation.
13. What is the duration of courses?
Courses range from 3 months (Little Masters, Foundation) to 9 months (Champion). Grandmaster Prep is ongoing.
14. Do you provide books and study materials?
Yes, every student receives our custom curriculum study guide and chess puzzle homework booklets for free.
15. What tournaments do you conduct?
We hold Monthly In-House Tournaments, the State-Level Annual Mudhalvan Championship (250+ capacity), and official FIDE practice matches.
16. How do academy students claim store discounts?
Mudhalvan Chess Academy students get an automatic 10% discount on all store items. Just input your student ID number when ordering.
17. Can parents watch or attend classes?
Parents are welcome to view the introductory demo class, and can request review check-ins during parent-teacher evaluation meetings.
18. What is the process for franchise queries?
